Did you enjoy my week 1 entry? I hope so 😀
As promised, this is the week 2 of our Switzerland visit.
Again, we are divided into four pairs. Me and Deo, Ojie and Vhan2, Mitzi and Ehman, and Chino and Pau2.
So here’s our (Me and Deo) 8 days camp in Giswil with the leaders from Basel.
Disclaimer: Pictures are not all mine. Pictures with captions “Jede Jubla zahlt” are from the camp official photographer, and some pictures are photos uploaded in fb by Team 4 or Partnership FB page
Day 8 – Leaders Camp day 1
Since we slept in one house, everyone (less ojie and vhan) woke up early to prepare ourselves for the departure, and of course to be the first one to take the shower while the water is still hot. hehehehe 🙂 now I know that kind of feeling. Makipagunahan sa banyo para sa mainit na tubig. 😀
Me and Deo together with Sandra and Cyril go to a train station in Giswil; their meeting place to meet the leaders and the participants. When we get there, some of the participants are already waiting for the others to arrive. Then when everyone has arrived, time to get to know each other. We play a circle game wherein there’s someone in the middle and s/he will say a thing and everyone who has it will have to switch places. Something like everyone who has blue shirt, black hair, black jacket, etc.
After the short game, everyone prepares themselves for a hiking. Yes!! They will hike going to the campsite. They are divided into 4 groups and each group has 4 different trails. Exciting, right? But unfortunately
luckily me and Deo will not join any team.
After the participants have started their hike, we immediately proceed to the campsite to have our lunch; pizza of course bc I think it’s the easiest one to prepare. 😀
In the afternoon we go back to Lucern to watch a football match between Basel and Lucern. Sandra and Cyril is a fan of FC Basel and bc they are from Basel. I was amazed at how people cheer the team they’re supporting, they have this chant that they sung every time FC Basel gets a point. It was really a unity in action.
Then at night, we visit one hikers team in a mountain. They have set up the tents in a vacant field, but bc it was really cold outside, they asked one framer if they can stay in his barn, luckily the farmer allowed them. We joined them in their bon fire evening, we play some games and we ate schoggi banana (chocolate banana).
Day 9 – Leaders Camp day 2
In the morning, the participants arrived group after group from their different trails.
Before we start the sessions, the Trainors give each group a time to make their own house rule. I was amazed bc in Chiro, normally the leaders give the house rule, but in this course the participants decide the house rule, the trainer will just add if they missed some important things.
EASTER NIGHT .
We are divided into four groups and each was given ingredients for Easter bunny bread, the twist of baking the bread is that everyone will only use one hand.
Day 10 – Leaders Camp day 3
Since the location of our camp house is in a snowy mountain, we play a lot of games in the snow and I survived the very cold weather even if you have layers of clothes already.
The leader place different kinds of candies on the table, then she will pop a question and if you want a candy you have to answer the question.
CHIRO NIGHT – we are given 1 hour and 30 mins to introduce Chiro to the participants.
Me and Deo give them the ‘what is Chiro’ basics, we also introduce some games to them and discuss about the partnership.
Day 11 – Leaders Camp day 4
Every Lunch and Dinner each group will teach a new game or song before eating. So, today is our assigned day to teach them another game.
In this game, we have to look for the materials to make a fire in the snow. The materials are with the leaders and before they can give what they have, we need to do whatever they ask. Great game right, since it was really cold outside.
Day 12 – Leaders Camp day 5
All about scouting/camping. Tent making, rope knots, map and compass reading.
Afternoon game in the snow.
Today we area assigned to cook dinner for everyone. We cooked Chicken Adobo a very famous dish in the Philippines, almost every Filipino knows how to cook this kind of dish.
Day 13 – Leaders Camp day 6
Forest game for today, yehey! 🙂 But the weather is still the same. 😦
This game, we need to boil a pasta strip as many as we can. To get a pasta in the store, we have to exchange it with a yarn of the other teams. Chaos, because you need to
grab get the yarn at the back of the other player.
Once you got enough pasta, another challenge is to boil it, because the leaders only give us 1 casserole, water, matches and a lot of candles. 😀
Day 14 – Leaders Camp day 7
Morning game, exam and evaluation.
Night indoor game.
Since this is the last night of the camp, our cook staff prepared a fire show.
And because it is the last night, everyone took the chance to have this last night bonding. They go to the dinning room to eat chocolates, chips and drinks some beers (actually they do this every night and drinking alcoholic beverages during camp is allowed to them as long as you will be physically and mentally present the next day), some go to the recreation room to play but still with food or beers in their hands.
Day 15 – Leaders Camp day 8
Last day of the camp.
We had a ‘cleaning game’, great idea for cleaning a camp house after you have used it.
Then a picture taking with the whole pax and trainors. (sadly, I don’t have the pic)
Using a hired bus, we all together travel back to Giswil Train station where we will take a train going to Basel. It was a 3 hour train ride to Basel, long trip it is. But we changed trains after an hour, it wasn’t easy, bc you have to carry your big bag again and walk 5 mins till you get to the new train that will bring you to Basel. Then at Basel Train station, the campers made a big circle and sung “Tschieiei” (don’t know if I spell the title correctly).
It’s the end of the camp, sad that it’s time to say goodbye to our new found friends. The 8 days of living together in one roof with these awesome people are really a great experience and unforgettable. 😃
We met Ojie, Vhan2, Chino and Pau2 with Sandra and Tin in a coffee shop inside the train station. We had a short break/rest, then travel to Ormalingen house. Sandra asked for our dirty clothes and brought it to her grandma for laundry. So we were alone in the house for a while, we decided to make a short music video (which we will
not never upload hehehe).
We had cheese fondue for dinner. 😀😀 I guess we’re all now used to eating lunches and dinners without rice. 😊😊
Yeah! That’s it. I/We survived the 8 days leaders camp.
It was a week full of leanings and new friends.
Here are some pictures of the other teams during their camp.
Watch out for the week 3 entry, that would be the last part of my Switzerland experience.
Hope you guys, enjoy reading this. 😉😉
