I love books. ❤
When 2015 started, I’ve been recording all the books I’ve read. So far I have read 23 books. Onti noh? 😀 hehehe. I’m not a fast reader tho. 🙂 Ok, here’s my list and short impression about the book.
1. Love Rosie by Cecelia Ahern
I love Alex and Rosie 🙂 When I started reading this book, I get easily hooked because of the concept. Writing letters to each other really catches a woman’s heart, even if it’s old school. (Old school ako eh.)
Rosie is in love with her best friend, but did not mind telling him bc she thinks Adam like this other girl from their school, neither did she know that Adam is also in love with her.
The whole story is complete with laughter, sadness, hurt, joy, love, fulfillment of dreams and kilig.
So, if you want a complete pack of emotion, then this could be the best book to read, but embraces yourself because this could make you cry. Yes, I cried. 😦 the movie is also nice.
Realization: If you love someone and you feel that s/he is the one, don’t let go of that person. Tell him/her what you feel before it’s too late bc if you will keep it to yourself; you are wasting the time that supposed to be spent with the one you love.
2. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Mia is a simple teenage girl with a dream of being a cellist and perform on a big stage, she has a loving family and a boyfriend. But her family met an accident that changed her life.
I appreciate the book bc of the family values that it teaches. It will also make you realize that life is short, and that you have to live every moment to the fullest.
If you’re looking for something that can make you appreciate your life, then this can be the one to read.
Realization: Love your life and love the people around you. Live life to the fullest. #YOLO is true. Don’t waste time living someone else’s lives.
3. Where She Went by Gayle Forman
This book is a sequel of “If I Stay”.
This is about finding Mia, yes, the title of the book refers to Mia. Adam; her boyfriend look for her when she went away after waking up in the hospital.
This sequel of the book is about moving on/forward with your life, pursuing your dreams and fighting for your love to someone. Adam did not lose hope that he will one day find Mia again and their love for each other will have its second chance.
People who have been left behind can relate to this story, and if you want to know the answer of all your WHY? you can do what Adam did.
Realization: If you are left behind w/o explanation, demand for it.
4. Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern
Tamara is a brat and a materialistic city girl. She can get whatever she wants, then suddenly her dad committed suicide and her mom was caged in grieving.
Her world falls apart when they moved to her mom’s hometown, until one day she found this book of tomorrow in a mobile library. Staying in the place, Tamara discovers a lot of things about the place, about the castle and about her real identity.
We always ask/think what’s gonna happen tomorrow? But what if there is a book that will tell you what’s gonna happen.
Realization: We can all learn from yesterday, but remember what’s gonna happen today bc today will be yesterday.
5. P.S I love You by Cecelia Ahern
I really love how Holly and Gerry fall in love with each other. Actually, this is the love story I want for my life. 😀 hehehehe but I don’t want the dying part.
Their married life was so perfect, until one day Gerry got sicked and died. Holly didn’t know how to move on with her life bc Gerry is her life.
This book makes me cry a lot. D: But I love how Gerry helped Holly to move on, before he die, he makes these letters that Holly needs to read and do monthly. How sweet diba? But it was really hard for Holly reading Gerry’s hand writing. It makes her misses him more.
Realization: True love never dies, they will remain in your heart forever. May FOREVER! 😀
6. Amazon Millionaire by Robert Kiyosaki and Dave Kettner
From fiction to this kind of book? Hehehe 😀 Napaka random person ko kasi, kung ano maisipan.
The reason why I read this is book is bc I follows Robert Kiyosaki’s books. I learned a lot from his books, especially the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”; must read yan.
In this book, he teaches how you can earn online, yes may pera online. Try to read books of Robert, and for sure you will be inspired. He is very specific kasi in his words, and in what you should do.
Realization: You can really earn online.
7. Give All, Take Charge by Bo Sanchez
Of course Bo Sanchez, it’s impossible for me not to include Bo’s book in my list. I have read most of his books eh, and it was all nice and inspiring.
Take charge, give all will teach you how you can take control of you life. Yes, yun na rin ung title eh. Hehehe 😀 Bc Bo is very specific din sa lahat ng book title nya. He doesn’t want you to think deeper to know what this book is all about.
Realization: Every one can take charge of their life, just don’t forget to ask guidance from above.
8. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
This is about the story of two high school students Anna and Ettiene, who are in love with each other, but time and circumstances did not permit them to have their love affair blossom. They remained friends until they cannot longer hide what they feel for each other.
The story is full of kilig moments. True ‘yon! 😀
So read this para kiligin ka ng bongang bonga! 🙂
Realization: First love can become true love.
9. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Another Stephanie Perkins book, and it was again another book full of kilig scenes. 😀
Lola and Cricket are best friends since they were young, but they grew apart from being best friend to just neighbors because of Callope; Crickets’ twin sister.
The story is about rekindling the love they have before, even if the situation they have right now is very different, Lola having a boyfriend and Cricket controlled by her twin sister.
Realization: LOVE can wait!! 🙂 when both of you are READY.
10. If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern
I really love how Cecelia Ahern writes her books, she adds thrill in a simple love story and keeps you reading her other books. 😀 Sobrang binebenta eh noh? Heheheh
Anyway, this book has little fantasy. Elizabeth’s nephew; Luke can see a friend (Ivan) where no one else can. Elizabeth thought it was just an imaginary friend, then suddenly she was able to see Ivan. They fall in love, but it was not allowed to Ivans’ world of Ekam Eveileb.
What keeps me reading this book is the life story of Elizabeth, why? It’s for you to find. Read it. 😀 hehe
Realization: Whatever comes your way, there’s always a reason behind it. See life as wonderful, bc it is. 🙂
11. At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks
This is LOVE! Syempre Nicholas Spark ‘to. 😀
A novel about how Jeremy was invited to solve a mystery in Lexie’s hometown. She first saw Lexie in a cemetery where the mystery happens. Jeremy was stunned to Lexie’s genuine beauty. From that day on, she never forgets her face features.
The love blossom and it was just the start of many discoveries for both of them.
I am a fan of Nicholas Spark, I love all his books, and when the books turn into a film; I make sure to watch it also. This book is one good love story.
Realization: You cannot plan/tell whom to fall in love too.
12. True Believer by Nicholas Sparks
This is a sequel of “At First Sight”.
In this book, Nicholas continues the story of Jeremy and Lexie. They are now planning their wedding bc their baby is on its way. 🙂
It’s a story of meeting the families, a lot of planning for the wedding, for the baby, house to buy, etc. but still full discoveries.
I thought it was a happy ending, bc I didn’t expect what happened in the end. D:
Realization: Love is sweet when its new, but sweeter when its true. 😀
13. Where the Big Dog Roam by Dori Friend
It’s a book recommended by Robert Kiyosaki. 😀 About ways on how you can earn online thru SEO or Search Engine Optimization.
This is a good reads, especially when you are planning to build a virtual career. Actually, this interest me, bc I’m planning to launch my virtual career soon. 😀 So I’m checking what track I could take, that’s why I’m reading materials about ‘how to earn online’. 😀
Realization: Very technical, but easy to understand. Virtual Career does exist.
14. Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
Stephanie Perkins again! Hehehe I love how she write her books, it was really nakakakilig. 😀
This one is another dose of kilig moments of how Isla and Josh developed their love affair. Ever since they were first year high school, Isla silently like Josh, but Josh didn’t know about it because they have a different set of friends.
They became friends when all of Josh’s friends already graduated and he needs to find new set of friend, so from strangers to friends, and from friends to lovers. But their love was tested and they almost give up but find themselves fighting for it.
I like how Stephanie connected all her characters in these three series of “Anna and the French Kiss”. First Anna and Lola work together in a cinema mall during college, Anna, Ettienne, Josh and Isla goes in one school; SOAP or School of America in Paris for high school only, then Cricket and Josh go in one dormitory in college. See? They are all connected to each other. 😀
Realization: If love is worth fighting for, FIGHT for it.
15. Love and Misadventure by Lang Leav
Frankly speaking, this book is like a torture to me. I really felt every word and every line this book has. Ok, exaggerate, hehe slight lang.
Well, this is a compilation of poets about Love and Misadventure. I really am not a fan of poetry, but I got curious of why do people talk about this book. So, I read it, and I loved it. Super relate ako sa most of the poets ng book na ito eh. D:
I strongly recommend to read this, especially if you have been hurt before, for sure you can also relate. It might also hurt you again, but acceptance is the cure nga daw. hehehe 😀
Realization: Love can hurt us, but sometimes it’s the only thing that makes us feel alive.
16. The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
Travis Parker is a man every or most of the girls could ask for. A bachelor, very responsible, and a man with a dream and goals in life. Gabby Holland is a simple girl who moved next door to Travis house, to be in the same town with her boyfriend.
The story and feeling on how Nicholas writes it, is very genuine. I love how the title “The Choice” tells the whole story.
This book is a must read before it turns out to be a film this 2016. It’s like a roller coaster of feelings, packed with romance, drama and a lot more. I will surely watch the movie in the cinema, who’d like to join me? 😀
Realization: Life is always your choice.
Here’s the official movie trailer.
17. Rat Race Escape Plan by Andy Tanner
Have you heard of the word ‘Rat Race’? Or is it your first time reading that word?
Anyway, this is a book about how to manage your 15-30 salary and how to get out of the so called ‘rat race’.
I read this book because again, it was recommended by Robert Kiyosaki, and to be honest I really need this. I need an escape plan to my 15-30 salary. Hahaha 🙂
Realization: There’s an escape to every bad situation we are in, if you learn and know how, act on it.
18. Solopreneur by Robert Kiyosaki
This book taught me how I can start my own business like solopreneur, using the technology we have. This is a good read, especially for those people who are seeking ways on how to earn online. It reveals a lot of secrets and tips for the steps by step action you need to take before launching your business online.
Robert Kiyosaki and his team are really a good mentor or adviser in business and leadership. You should read their books, I just subscribed to their email newsletter and I received notice if they have free e-books available or if they have new books soon to be released.
Realization: Before starting a business, look for mentors who can guide you in that field. Mentors are successful people who’ve already done what you wanted to do.
19. Passion to Profit by Anik Singal
In this book, you’ll learn ‘the 7 simple steps to turning your passion into rewarding profit’. Yes, very interesting.
Anik told his journey in finding his passion, and when he found it, he used it to make profits. His life story was very inspiring, there’s ups and downs in his journey to the freedom he has now and that what make his journey worth sharing.
The book is really inspiring and packed with motivational stories from different people, who turned their passion into profit.
Realization: Finding your passion is a very exciting journey, and turning it into a rewarding profit is a (like) fulfillment.
20. The Selection by Keira Cass
I’ve been seeing this book on the shelves of NBS, and it’s always on their recommended books, I got curious so I read it. 🙂
And I got hooked. 😀
I love the story, it’s like a modern Cinderella (simple girl meets Prince Charming). The girls in the selection are all Cinderellas wannabes. And there’s this America Singer a lower caste member who joined the selection to be Prince Maxon’s future Queen.
She joined the competition to help heal her broken heart and for the money that her family will receive monthly. She never planned on staying too long in the competition, but what happened was out of her control. She also found out that Aspen; her ex-boyfriend, is now in the palace as one of the Guards.
Realization: Sometimes plans don’t work the way you planned it.
21. The Elite by Keira Cass
Sequel of ‘The Selection’.
After the palace was attacked by the rebels, the king decided to short list the girls in the selection for everyone’s safety.
Luckily, America is still part of the Elite girls which consist of 4 other girls.
The romance between Prince Maxon and the other girls are developing just like with America. But for Prince Maxon, America is the most special of them all. But their love for each other undergoes a lot of defiance to prove if the feeling is real. America almost gives up and wished Prince Maxon to just send her home, but Prince Maxon knew in his heart that America is “the One’ for him.
Realization: There is no perfect relationship, there’s always test. Be ready to fight for love.
22. The One by Keira Cass
Sequel of ‘The Elite’
And now the selection has come to the time that Prince Maxon must choose the one. He knows by heart that it was America.
Untimely, America’s father died, she was sent home to pay her respect to her father, and to protect her form rebels, Aspen goes with her as instructed by Prince Maxon. Somehow Pince Maxon trusted Aspen because of one incident that Aspen saved both his and America’s life.
After returning to the palace, America planned on confessing to Maxon that Aspen is her ex-boyfriend, she is telling, one of the reasons why she is in the Selection.
But before she can confess, Prince Maxon caught her and Aspen, having a serious talk. And the next thing happen is that, Maxon changed his mind for choosing America as the one.
The last few scenes in this book was really heartbreaking for me.
Prince Maxon says to America “I’ll be glad when you’re gone.”
But on the ceremony before announcing who will be ‘The One’, the palace was attacked by the rebels, and that attack change everything.
Sad ending but kilig ending pa rin. 😀 ❤
Realization: Be honest, even if the truth hurts.
Favorite line from Maxon: “Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.”
23. The Gift by Cecelia Ahern
The main story of this book was told by a police officer to a young boy who caught smashing a turkey in their neighbor’s window.
It is about how the life of Lou Suffern, a very successful executive changed after he received a gift from Gabe. Gabe is a homeless guy outside their office building, one day he bought coffee for Gabe, and that’s where it all began.
I love how the story makes the readers realize how very important time is. We sometimes or most of the times, forget the things, the people and the reason why we are doing what we are doing.
Another book that makes me cry again at the end. Si Cecelia talaga. 😦
Realization: If you see yourself facing life too fast, stop and slow it down. Time is very precious. Spend time with your loved ones, you’ll never know how long will they stay in your life.
Finally, done! 😀
I have read 23 books last year, and I am planning to read more than 23 books this year #goal
I started the year reading the ‘8 secrets of the Truly Rich’ by Bo Sanchez and I have already listed the books I am going to read this year. This is exciting! Hahaha 😀
P.S. This is just my personal views on the books I have read. I don’t have any intention or purpose in this blog, I just want to share my thoughts. Thanks for reading. 😀
